Churchill Exhibition – Blenheim Palace

Chambers Design were invited to redesign the existing Winston Churchill exhibition at Blenheim Palace as part of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund at this historic UNESCO site. The brief was to relocate their existing collection to a larger space and bring to life the story of this famous wartime leader, who was born and spent much time at Blenheim Palace.

The new permanent Churchill Exhibition features a mix of historic artefacts and modern-day technology, documenting key aspects of the adventurous life of Sir Winston Churchill. With photographs, letters, clothing and excerpts from his most famous speeches, we help re-imagine a real sense of our ‘Greatest Briton’. Working with the brilliant team at Blenheim, Britton McGrath and some fantastic contractors has resulted in a wonderfully evocative space that not only takes vsitiors chronologically through his life and the effect that Blenheim had on him, but respects and showcases the architecture and beautiful decor of the listed structure.

The exhibition is located in an area of the Palace overlooking the Water Terraces, where Churchill would often take breakfast when in residence. A specially commissioned lifelike model of Churchill by a team of Madame Tussauds sculptors also forms part of the interpretation and a unique photo opportunity. Churchill’s original tailor, hat and shoemakers were brought in to create bespoke clothing to the great man’s exact measurements.

This permanent exhibition is free with a Palace, Park & Gardens ticket or valid Annual Pass (Link to Blenheim) and is well worth a visit. Churchill Exhibition visitors info.
